Historic Timeline

1889 – Foundation

Mohun Bagan Athletic Club was founded on 15th August 1889 by Bhim Chandra Nag in Kolkata, then Calcutta. The club was established during the British Raj, becoming a symbol of Indian nationalism.

1911 – IFA Shield Triumph

The historic victory in the IFA Shield final against East Yorkshire Regiment, becoming the first Indian club to defeat a British team in a football tournament. This victory is celebrated as a landmark in India's freedom struggle.

1977 – National League Champions

Won the inaugural National Football League, establishing domestic dominance. The club repeated this success in 1983 and 1998.

2017 – Corporate Restructuring

Mohun Bagan Football Club (India) Private Limited was incorporated as a private limited company, marking a new era of professional management and financial sustainability.

2020 – ISL Champions
